White Hart

25 Mar

Drab, uninspiring décor. Totally unassuming. Part of the Harveys family.

An award winning chef turns out magnificent food that is wasted in this Sussex backwater. I’m sure even the locals drive past it without noticing. It doesn’t even have a website. Check it out here: http://www.harveys.org.uk/stockists/the-white-hart-4

It tastes so good because all the food is homemade and freshly cooked – the menu is extensive with a huge selection of fish dishes and all the usual pub grub suspects including stodgy tasty desserts. The portions are all pretty big so even some starters can be shared. We had deep fried Camembert, leek and potato soup with a whole warmed baguette to mop it up, ham, egg and chips, a vegetable curry and a goats cheese and onion tart. All completely lovely. Good for a warming winter treat as I don’t think it has the luxury of a garden. Who would want to sit next to the A275 anyway.
